Watch the video from Taya Ft Yxng Bane – When Ur Sober

The young talented beauty Taya has released her latest song titled When Sober. A song that discusses the influences of alcohol, and the power it has in truth, but when the alcohol wears off the words are taken back! A song that everyone can relate too!
When UR Sober is a mixture of melodies, vocal textures and two great young talents joining forces to create a great R&B sound with elements of Hip Hop from the one and only Yxng Bane.
The song is a perfect combination of Taya’s beautiful diverse vocals equipped with Yxng Banes swag and Raps. Both artists complement each other perfectly.
When Sober has a very catchy and powerful chorus. Overall a great tune!

More Life! Drake Is Back With Another Banger! 🎶🎶

The verdict will be out today! After the release of More Life from OVO rapper Drake this weekend, I cannot wait to hear people’s opinions of the album. I am positive that we will be preview to an influx of social media uploads (guilty!) of people quoting their favourite lines from the multitude of songs.

More Life has a huge London presence! We’re all aware of the influence and admiration that Drake has for UK Grime and Hip Hop. He has further solidified his interest and love for our music by featuring South London rapper, aka the Landlord Giggs on No Long Talk and KMT,
the album also features his BBK comrade Skepta on Interlude and the beautiful and talented songstress Jorja Smith on Get It Together which samples South African legend DJ Black Coffee.
The US artists featured on More Life are Migo’s Quavo, Travis Scott, 2 Chains, Young Thug, his OVO partner Party Next Door and the one and only Kanye West who features on one of my favourite songs from the album, Glow.
More Life is filled with a concoction of sounds, rhythms and beats! Drake caters to every fan, those who enjoy his straight Hip Hop style, to those who enjoy his House inspired dance beats, not forgetting those accustomed to his signature singing/talking smoothly over a dope beat, I call it the OVO R&B sound!
There are a lot of songs to go through. which is great!  As someone who enjoys Drakes music you have a lot of songs to enjoy throughout the album. I have a couple favourites that I had to re-wind a few times myself! 🙂
After about 3 listens, It might change, but for now I would say ‘Teenage Fever’  which samples Jennifer Lopez’ ‘If you had my love’, Get It Together, No Long Talk and Glow!
More Life has a few One Liners that will eventually become tomorrows quotes or language! New York Giants Odell Beckham didn’t waste time in quoting his good pal Drake!
Of course Drake aka champagnepapi liked his post! Looks like Brooklyn Beckham liked it too!
What are some of your favourite sayings from More Life??
Have a listen and give me your thoughts on your favourite tunes!

British Songstress Makes Her Mark On Drakes More Life Album

Jorja features on the song Get It Together. A song that is heavily influenced by South African House music. The beat and production is by DJ extraordinary, South African legendary producer, arguably the most prominent electronic music producer Africa has produced Black Coffee who has over 15 awards on the national and global front. The Durban native created a sound that is chilled, yet something you’d dance too.
The beat is exciting, enticing and an overall feel good tune! When listening to it, you feel a powerful calming energy. Jorja’s voice is a great addition to the beat. Her beautiful vocals flow seemingly over the beat.
Drake himself features lightly towards the end, with his staple rap/singing which we love!
Congratulation to Jorja for making the cut, on an album that features heavy weights from the UK and across the pond!
Make sure you listen to Get It Together!

Burning Sands. How Far Will One Go: In the Name Of Pledging!

On a lovely Saturday, I decided to relax, put my feet up and indulge in some solo Netflix and Chill! No distractions, so I can fully focus on finishing the film 😉 😉
On this occasion, I came across a Netflix original film titled Burning Sands. A film directed by Gerard McMurray, he also co-wrote the film with Christine T Berg. The lead actor is singer and actor Trevor Jackson!
Burning Sands is about a group of young men who are in their first year at Fredrick Douglas University, a historic black college. The film takes you on a journey of discovery, the struggles of identity, and the ugly side of pledging for a famous African-American fraternity.
Personally, I have watched a lot of American films that highlights the life of a college student pledging to their fraternity of choice. Individuals deciding on making a serious lifelong commitment to a Black Greek organisation that they will forever be a part of. Famously, films such as Stomp the Yard and Schools Daze to name a few.
For us that do not live in the States, we attend university, if we can be bothered we decided to join a society of choice, for example Drama club or even French club. Nothing that involves any commitments once we leave the vicinities!
For American students, they are often faced with extra activities or Hazing as they call it! Hazing is the practice of initiation, that a lot of pledges go through during the period of entering an organisation, a process that will test their character, discipline, patience and strengths as an individual.  All those characteristics will govern whether they are eligible to join the sisterhood or brotherhood. Hazing is an illegal practice that is unfortunately imposed upon scholars who seek guidance and identity from a society. I came across a few articles that implied that there have been about 125 hazing Fraternity deaths since 1835, with 25% of them happening in the 2000s and 2010s alone. Scary! It looks like in modern times; the practice has become more dangerous and harsh!
To clarify, hazing is not a practice that all fraternities do! Within every practice, there is a group of minorities who choose to use their power for their own pleasure, which can lead to tragic circumstances. Burning Sands highlights those occasions, when a leader is overtaken by his ego and power, choosing to exercise that whilst forgetting the meaning behind the brotherhood!
Brotherhood and a sisterhood of a lifetime is what joiners look for, the opportunity to share collective goals and understandings, to build relationships that will be honoured and last a lifetime. A support system that will loyalty to their needs, togetherness throughout a life time of trials and tribulations, from the day you join till the day you die!
Other familiar faces that feature in Burning Sands are Empires Serayah and Moonlight Oscar winning actor Trevante Rhodes. And 50 cents right hand man from television powerhouse show Power Rotimi.
I would highly recommend this film! An insight into a well known practice that is often ignored! Yet detrimental to the mental and physical state and wellbeing of many young individuals embarking on their journey into adulthood!
Let me know your thoughts? Are you as obsessed with American College films as I am? Did you learn something new??

I Absolutely loved the latest interview from The Breakfast Club! Ed Sheeran dropped by once again, a friend to the show, Ed has visited the show on a few occasions.

East London Duo Mvngo & Lashes Release Debut EP Solution!!

East London multitalented rap and singing duo Mvngo & Lashes have released their debut EP titled Solution.

The 4 track EP features songs:

I Like To Think That

Naked Truth;

Enemy Of Myself

Stoosh

The intro to the EP is subtle, you hear Mvngo speaking in a soft voice, releasing some spoken words over a classy, yet romantic beat. Followed by Lashes who continues rapping and singing. The message is potent, on of love and its power.

Secondly followed by Naked Truth, a song that speaks about transparency. Being honest about one’s feelings, rather than toying with another’s for personal gain by stringing them along! The singing is beautiful! The variety within their voices and the difference in ranges, clearly showcases their abilities as artists, which is incredible to hear.

Enemy Of Myself, is the 3rd track from the EP. A tune that draws similarities to that old-school grime rap style which Lashes executes very well whilst rapping. The rhythm is upbeat, the beat has more of a pop feel but with a concoction of instrumentals making the song catchy and energetic. A very positive song filled with encouragement and empowering messages!

The 4th and final song is Stoosh, a song previously reviewed. The song is reminiscent of that old-school Hip Hop early 90’s New York sound. The beat is extremely dope! Lyrically very informative, there’s a lot of emphasis and character in both their deliveries.

Overall a great debut project, they duo did not come to play! They showed exactly why they will always be doing music.
